The Rhode Island Reliability Project is a 345 kV transmission project that runs from North Smithfield to Warwick in an existing transmission right-of-way. It is a one of the four New England East-West Solution (NEEWS) 345 kilovolt (kV) transmission projects. These interdependent projects will strengthen the southern New England transmission grid and improve electric reliability for all customers—even on the hottest and coldest days of the year—when one or more power plants or segments of transmission line are unexpectedly not operating.
